More on Jack McCarthy, this time for Telegram.com. I wanted to focus in on what he meant to this community.
As usual, Victor—thank you, thank you, thank you.

#WordPlay is an amazing #Vancouver, BC-based poets-in-schools program through Vancouver Poetry House. I love these guys—they are amazing. They need our help with a little bit of funding: http://www.indiegogo.com/keep-wordplay-in-schools
Please help spread this around.

I’m raising $250 to publish my first book of poetry. It will be titled Music and Marrow. I don’t want to give away much more than that.
I just think it’s about goddamn time I published something
I put a give button at the bottom of my page.

My friend and fellow poet Denise Jolly (@djolly6) held a writing workshop here in Portland recently while on tour. Everyone who attended produced some great work from her elegantly simple prompt:
If ________ could speak, it might say…

And here’s what it spawned from me—a serial poem in progress.
I, Earth: Part I
Opening Statements
Had I known that
by changing myself
from within that
it would lend to
human separation,
division and strife
I would have done
it much sooner.
I move because
I want to and, moreso,
because I need to.
Like so many creatures,
at my core is a heart
so violent that it is
constantly trying
to destroy itself
We’re not that
different. But we
are not one. The
first glaring difference
between us is that
I never needed you
to be here.

UPDATE: I’ve added a second book to the pack for you to hoard or give away to someone who needs a little mighty…

This is my new chapbook of writings. I make it myself. I like handmade things. I like mailing handmade things to people who like them too. I recently created this limited edition (to 111) chapbook called Uncle Robot because I make my living through poetry and love it. I am extra pleased because it consists of writings from the last year except for the titular poem, which I wrote in 2007 the day after Kurt Vonnegut died.
This chapbook comes with a download code for my digital album Sweet Nuggets. Soooo…
I present the Uncle Robot Summer Pack for $20
and it comes with:
Or you can choose the chapbook/album only from the drop-down menu. Only $10.
NOTE: Be sure to visit my albums to denote which one you want a code for! CLICK HERE TO PERUSE MY AUDIO.
AND! Be sure to designate who I’ll sign the book for, or email me with instructions after you’ve ordered or send me your number and we’ll talk it over some coffee/tea.
